Sitting in a Sport 4.4SDV8

So, while waiting for the Dealer to fit my battery and read fault codes I'm sitting in the showroom, no sign of a Discovery Sport yet but have sat in all the others.

I have to say, the new Sport has a lovely driving position, it IS very sporty feeling. The one I am looking at here is as follows:

Corris Grey
Panoramic contrast black roof
Black alcantara headlining
Ivory seats
7 seats
tow bar
side steps
big wheels

As I know how well the 3.0 SDV6 drove from last year, I just know that the 4.4 SDV8 would be very nice in this car. I have to say, I do wonder whether I'd go for one of these if the money was right on a SH one. Very tempting.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Cairns Blue

My wife had one of these on rental last weekend, I found it extremely difficult to get into on the passenger side, having to duck my head in under the door frame. I'm not particularly tall and the set was right down. Also, when the seat is pushed back so I can comfortably ext the car, there is virtually no legroom in the back!!

Much prefer the full size one!

^ +1. Got to agree. If you had 7 people in there they would all need to be very good friends Wink It may as well be a 2+2, i.e. 2 Adults and 2 Children. Anything else is awfully cramped. As a daily commuter it'd be fine though.

I quite like them, unlike the previous cars. Just I prefer the L405 so much more.

As a car 'that does everything', I think the L405 (or just about any FF) can't be matched.

The problem I had with the old Sport was a chronic lack or rear seat legroom for my daughter in a car seat. She'd always be scuffing the rear of the drivers seat with her feet. In my SC, it never happens.

I've not sat in a new Sport, so can't make the call, but I do suspect it's still measurably smaller inside compared to the L405 and the sporty handling isn't terribly attractive to me. For some odd reason, I quite like the FF's slightly more wallowy approach to getting round corners. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

A man ain't truly been insulted until he stands buck naked in front of a woman and she didn't even notice. Or care.

I adjusted the driver's seat for me at 6'1" and then got in the back behind, I could fit in, it wasn't amazing, but it was ok.

Agreed, the L405 is much roomier but if you don't have kids, rarely have passengers (like me) it's a nice option.

They had a Discovery 4 HSE Luxury, one of the runout models I guess, all in black, nice wheels etc, it was £64K!!

A lovely looking Defender 110 DCHT with the sawtooth alloys and mud terrain tyres, in grey and black, I think its a winning combo.

There was a guy picking up his new L405 that morning, it had been sheeted over with a big Land Rover emblazoned sheet to have the 'reveal'. Apparently it was about his 4th L405 so far, changes them very often. Great for the S/H market and the likes of me in a few years! (His wife also had a new Sport in Chile Red) Discovery 4 HSE

FOUR L405s?!? Shocked At that point I would think he'd be bored with the reveal. At four they should go with, "Keys are in the usual spot, mate."

I like the new Sport. Very nice. I didn't like the old one. However, I prefer the L405. Yes, I'll be waiting fir 2nd (or 3rd) hand. However, when buying the FFRR(L322) 2nd hand, prices weren't much different for similarly aged FFRR, SSRR and Discos. At the same price, why not go for the top of the range?
