Oil shelf life?

In my garage, I've found 2x sealed, unused 1L bottles of "Castrol Magnatec Professional" SAE 5W-30.

The bottle says "FILLED ON 07/07/08".

Does the 'date filled' stamp on the bottle mean that there is a shelf life for this oil?

Thanks.

I think it will have a very short shelf life... Fully synthetic oils will surely be made to bio degrade to some extent over time? Our supermarket shopping bags degrade on the shelf by around 6 months old... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Oil often has that little foil seal inside the screw top. If the seal is intact, I think the shelf live would be much longer than when it's been opened (even with the cap screwed down tight).

Storage conditions would also affect lifespan. I'll assume, cool, dark and constant temp to be ideal.
