What's the part number for the filter and the servotronic valve for a 02plate 4.4v8?

Can the valve be removed with just the road wheel off, or does it require putting the car on a ramp?

Done it! Access is a PITA. Who designs these things? I lost about the equivalent of the fluid reservoir. Had to pay £20 at the dealer to get replacement fluid to the handbook spec Crying or Very sad
Hopefully, this will cure intermittent heavy steering.

I have the usual problem of intermittent heavy steering which seems to feel like a badly lubed cv joint as you can sort of turn the wheel 'through' the hard part and then its fine til you turn it back.
So will have a look at all joints and liberally grease them but other question is can you test the valve function by just diconnecting it?

I am assuming from Rave that if I disconnect it the steering will be stiff all the time:
"At high driving speeds, i.e. on a motorway, the Servotronic valve is fully open due to a very low or nonexistent control
current supplied from the BCU. This enables maximum pressure supply from the feed fluid radial groove to the
reaction piston. When the steering wheel is turned, the reaction pressure increases appropriate to the existing
operating pressure and pressurises the piston in the reaction chamber."

I was thinking at least this would be an easy way to see if the rack itself, steering column cvjs or PAS pump was at fault?

Last one I did was the power steering pump itself.
