Where in Englandshire? There is a N & S and plenty of places around the coast to avoid buying cars from! You only need to watch the news when those storms were around and see how much salt water was being thrown over cars etc around the coast... Generally speaking new RR's are purchased by short term owners (2-3yrs) who couldn't care less about cleaning the underside after the winter or storms on the coast etc etc etc |

Just my own opinion on this but part of the problem is the plastic sill cover as it holds the moisture against the sill and once the rust starts it helps accelerate it!! |

I removed the plastic sill covers this year, wax injected the sills and applied rust proof paint to the outers. Hopefully delayed the onset of rust. |

Granted Alu doesn't rust but it still reacts and goes nasty like at defender doors and other alu bits

Yes, it can still corrode. Knowledge about electrolytic corrosion has come on a long way since the defender though. I know the early aluminium bodied jags had some corrosion problems, but it was more a paint issue than a structural issue. |

It'll still happen when two dissimilar metals. I see it all the time with other cars and jlr won't be much different FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

You will always get it when two metals of different potential meet. The thing is they shouldn't meet. It's done in the marine world successfully and I think they're getting better with cars. The Jaguar issue was some steel from the pressing plant was contaminating the aluminium and that's why the paint bubbled. |
