I believe that if it finds a door or whatever open when you lock it on the remote, it will lock and protect what it can and continue to monitor. When the offending item shuts, the full protection is completed as normal.
Not had the issue myself, but if I remember right, bonnet microswitches have been an issue in the past, though any latch could be the culprit.
Do some of the door actually lock when you do this ? Ie is is ok but the car thinks it isn't ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
