Left window open and then it rained!!

Hi all, proud owner now of 2002 4.4 v8 vogue and whilst round a friends left the drivers side window open during a heavy shower! Front windows now won't work of drivers side switch pack, but do of remote ( eg holdremote to wind up). Figuring must be water in switch pack? will it dry out? Checked fuses and ok? Also sometimes both sides have mind of own and go down. ah joys of l322 ownership!

been a couple of days now so might be to late! Live in fifth floor flat so need long extension lead for my hair dryer. Hopefully a warm day today may have helped or will have to go somewhere with heat gun. Will it make a difference though and do i heat the swithch panel?

Go for a long drive, set the heater to max, direct air to the vents, close the middle vents so it forces all air to the side vent and point it at the switch pannel.

This should dry the switchpack out nicely. Make sure you leave the a/c on so that it can dehumidify the air.

And dont do it again. I once left the rear door open all night and it rained, luckily everything was OK though. At least rain is clean, its not like you've spilt a can of coke in there!

it's odd that there is no alarm when you leave your window/doors open once you have turned of the car... or at least a option to.

It wasn't locked as on friends drive as i was working on the car. Fixed one thing and broke another!! Will try the heater thing today. Noticed the wing mirrors not working also so must be pack related.

Hi.

New to the forum, bought a 2004 R/R/Vogue 6 weeks ago,During the heavy rain about 4 weeks ago did the same thing, left the window open, about 10 mins later closed it and wiped all the water of the switch pack.Next day none of the switches responded, fuses o.k.As the car is under warranty took it to a approved garage, they checked it out and stated the switch pack was defective after being contaminated with water. They replaced it with a new one. This was about 10 days after the storm.Hope this helps.

Baz.

Still no joy. Spent twenty minutes drying it with a hair dryer to no avail. Still no front windows or side mirror adjustment. Guess its a new window pack switch!! Also caused me some pain couple of days ago when windows came down of own accord and refused to go up the way i did it originally through total close button on remote. Stuck in public place with front windows fully down!! Couple of hours later let me use remote function to close. Electric gremlins joy!!
