Direct Line aren't on compare websites and have sometimes surprised me. Not sure what they are like for younger drivers though |

The "compare" websites are somewhat of a smokescreen as they're owned by (I believe) only four insurance companies.

There was an item on 'Fake Britain' last night about an online Insurance Company that specialised in Young Drivers, only problem was that the insurance docs they sent out were completely fake! |

Car insured in their name with mum and dad as named to reduce risk, marmalade and carrot do black boxes.

It's a Megane Convertible 1.5 dci The compare sites were coming in about £1k going up to about £1.3k once she's passed her test. That's with my wife as main driver (which she genuinely would be) |

used to use Endsleigh insurance way back when for a few things, might be worth a call as quite a lot of their business is student based There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

. . . If you've a young newly qualified driver, a big problem for you is the type of car - ie a convertible.

I ended up buying a car for my 2 to learn in - worked out cheaper over a few years than adding them to one of ours (FFRR or Mini Cooper S convertible)
