Young driver insurance

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced company Big Cry

I've done the 'compare' sites, but just wondered if I was missing any that aren't included in their searches...

Direct Line aren't on compare websites and have sometimes surprised me. Not sure what they are like for younger drivers though Smile

The "compare" websites are somewhat of a smokescreen as they're owned by (I believe) only four insurance companies.
Others may call it a scam . . . .
The Co-op used to offer policies to young drivers with a night time "curfew" - maybe worth a go ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

There was an item on 'Fake Britain' last night about an online Insurance Company that specialised in Young Drivers, only problem was that the insurance docs they sent out were completely fake!

Car insured in their name with mum and dad as named to reduce risk, marmalade and carrot do black boxes.
More importantly DONT skimp on driver training before and after test and even if the car costs more to insure encap 5, its far cheaper than putting flowers at the side of the road. letters not necessarily in the right order

It's a Megane Convertible 1.5 dci

The compare sites were coming in about £1k going up to about £1.3k once she's passed her test. That's with my wife as main driver (which she genuinely would be)

used to use Endsleigh insurance way back when for a few things, might be worth a call as quite a lot of their business is student based There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

. . . If you've a young newly qualified driver, a big problem for you is the type of car - ie a convertible.
Insurance companies don't like young people in them.
If the cost is massively prohibitive, perhaps change the car type - or at least enquire ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

I ended up buying a car for my 2 to learn in - worked out cheaper over a few years than adding them to one of ours (FFRR or Mini Cooper S convertible)

We got a VW Fox - group 1 & a great little car Thumbs Up
