Did anyone figure how to get the handle off and do the re-covering at home?

I'm keen to do this once my car comes as the trim keeps getting dirty and I like the idea of a leather one. MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

You have to be brutal and prise the two halves apart... i.e. top & bottom (held together with two clips)
