my local main agent is also attending that dealer "closed" auction and showed me spec sheets for several of those vehicles this week in an attempt to drum up interest for a potential sale - their bidding being driven by sales interest of existing customers who could be trusted to go through with a sale if the vehicle was purchased within budget...

Problem with threads like this is that I start to wonder what "they" earn on cars like this... Laughing

and LR Experience Vehicles.

Despite what dealers and LR tell you - I would never buy an ex LR vehicle unseen. I have bought some low milage examples in absoultely mint condition - as Tim says these are ex management vehicles for the top brass and are well worth it.

However, I have also seen vehicles with chassis full of mud and some having been driven hard on a beach by certain idiotic press journalists and TV presenters - judging by the amount of sand and salt spray evident underneath... no wonder certain vehicles get electrical problems

Bodywork is frequently spruced up and new wheels and tyres fitted to try to hide heavy off road use - no substitute for getting on overalls and getting down mean and dirty under the vehicle.

Some vehicles may also have been supplied Gratis to certain people with the correct exposure

So where and by how much do I need to expose myself to get a free vehicle?

Yep, 4 of the 100 vehicles are ex-off road. LR have to make this clear in the program. You sometimes see more going through and then again sometimes there are none. The only Ex-off road I've bought (in 11 years with LR) are G4's.

To be fair the condition of the vehicles is pretty good (no worse than buying from a private customer), but it is then the responsibility for the buying (and unlimately selling) dealer to prepare them to approved standards.

I would say that 25% of our stock at any one time is ex-LR, either through a LR Closed Auction on on the on-line system that we use.

Sadly the VIP fleet are all charged to the end user (celeb etc) at a % per annum depending on their profile.

I would think that any ex Press Fleet/LRE or management car will have been as well or even better looked after than the average member of the public looks after their own cars - these cars HAVE to be flawless as they can make or break the company's reputation, especially if they are on the press fleet, and I'm sure that before they are put into even closed auctions they have been pretty well checked out by the factory (well I would like to think so!!). Not sure though that I would want to find out that the previous person/ driver of any press fleet car I bought had been used by Top Gear as a long term test car though.......................... thank goodness no Land Rover could ever be classed as the "Reasonably priced car" and driven to death by celebrities" 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

interesting, I don't think I would want an ex press used vehicle either, I wonder if dealers have to declare that like the ex LRE ones or would most say 'this one was owned by the CEO's 60 year old secretary, hardly ever driven blah blah' Laughing 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

Jez - Only the (exOff Road) are singled out in the auction. As for everything else, you only get to find out who it was registered to once you've bought it. Sometimes it LR UK, sometimes a private individual C/O LR UK, sometimes a fleet co, etc etc.
