of course he means petrol , his location and the spelling of odor sort of gives the clues that the gent isn't from round these parts

Check the High & Low Pressure fuel rails I had a minute leak on a TDV8 once sent out a smelly fine mist. Quite cheap to fix....

To me it sounds like overfuelling at start up. Better get fault codes read.
