Weather strip rant.

Sorry forum, I seem to be venting here quite a lot recently!

If anyone has seen my wanted post then this topic follows on from that. In short my car is in for paint and all 4 external door-window weather strips have corroded and look blistered through the rubber, a common thing I know.

What I did not know was the cost, with vat 4 of these cost £180. They are inferior by design, they corrode, they tarnish, they ripple and yet they cost a small fortune.

It's not about the money, more the principle.

Hiya, sorry forgot to say but mine is 2012 and I've noticed they are not smooth on the tailgate.
Initially I thought that they had grit under them!

I wouldn't even be stupid enough to attempt a warranty claim (unless my car was a lot newer) my main gripe is the price of them.

No pics and I'm a few hundred miles at sea at the moment, take a look at your strips, if they look like they have small/medium/large blisters or raised areas then the aluminium is starting to oxidise due to water ingress.

That's not what I needed replacing, mine were the flexible channel strips up either side of the glass on the rear upper tailgate Thumbs Up for what it's worth also seen your problem on a lot of RRS 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I had the channels up the rear window replaced and the dealer said that they always keep plenty in stock!
