LAND ROVER InControl

Does Land Rover in control Tm, do away with the necessity of having a Cat 6 tracker fitted?
I'm wondering if insurance companies will accept it?
Are there any restrictions drawbacks to it that anybody knows about will it work all over Europe for instance? Current:-
2014 Defender 90 2.2 TDCi
2014 FFRR 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
1955 MGTF 1500

Past:-
From a series 2 to 2014 4.4 FFRR Auto. with lots in between

When I was thinking of buying new, I asked a dealer about this. His advice was to go with a tracker and not bother with the InControl, as "the technology is too new" (or some such). I didn't get the feeling he knew what he was talking about, though.

My car came with a tracker already fitted. It was a demo car for a different dealer.

Not sure that tells you anything, though.

I think I'd have bought InControl instead of the tracker.

Might still do if it is retro-fittable.

InControl will not have the Thatcham apporval that the insurance company require. Tracker also uses short wave radio signals I think, as GPS is easily blocked.

I dont think InControl is worth the extra, in fact it should be free on a car at this price point!

Well if it isn't accepted by the insurance companies what's the point in having it? I'm not going to wake up & check my phone to see how much fuel is in the car, I'm pretty sure I'd remember from the night before what was left in it & where I parked it.............. : If my memory was that bad I think perhaps I shouldn't be driving anymore Confused Current:-

When I looked into it InControl was not approved by insurance companies. InControl like many things from LR has been brought to market before it's properly developed. The concept of using apps from your phone as the interface in the car makes sense but InControl is a way off making this a practical reality from what I have seen. It certainly doesn't alter the fact that the infotainment system is still very behind the competition.. In it's present state, most of the features of InContol seem to me to be those things you play with in the first couple of weeks of ownership and then it never really use again. The Emergency and LR assist features are worth having though but not sure they are worth the subscription fee.

InControl is a skinned version of Bosch mySPIN, it's not something developed solely by Land Rover.
