Hi Reo,
I am slightly perplexed by this.
New pads / discs etc can equal soft (not spongy) pedal for a wee while but should rapidly improve.
My concern is why should the system need bleeding? Modern systems simply flush the old fluid out with pressurised fresh fluid. At no point should air enter the system so even if done cheaply the pedal should be better than before. If they have allowed air into the system then they need a damn good rogering!!!!
Brakes are a mechanical system and software only allows you to try and relief faults in the abs system which shouldn't be there. I believe they have drawn a blank and they are using the software issue to "move you on"!!!!
You could try asking the Kwik Cr*p fitters what bleeding system they used to see if they have any idea what they are talking about. The bad news is I have known brake systems that have had to be bled backwards (from caliper back up to reservoir) to clear air trapped in the ABS module & thisd is a real pain in the butt!!

Tell KF they need to sort it aas they created the problem and shouldn't have taken the work on if they aren't equipped!!

Sorry - rant over now but KF really annoy me (and many others).

^+1 for kwik Fit and their like being annoying Censored ts Thumbs Up

I replaced my rear callipers earlier this year, and wanted to renew my brake fluid at the same time as there was no evidence this had ever been done, I did it with a Gunsons 'Easibleed' kit I bought many years ago, and the results were fine. these kits aren't expensive, and mean you can do the job on your own, it might be worth your while trying one? If the pedal was fine before, then the pedal will be fine again, once the new pads have bedded in.

If they have opened bleed nipples, or undone brake pipes for any reason, then they will need bled.
There is no reason whatsoever to undo the bleed nipples, nor undo any brake pipes...

Never had an issue with introducing air into the system while replacing brake pads in the last 10 years I have been working on LR's, and my money is still on the pads bedding in fully Thumbs Up

There is if you change the calipers, which the OP did. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

OP said pads, discs AND rear callipers replaced. Whistle

If I remember correctly from when I did mine, changing the callipers actually involved disconnecting the brake pipes from the callipers first, also new callipers have no fluid in them, hence introduction of air in to the system and necessity to bleed. Whistle

In over 40 years experience of working on braking systems of a huge variety of different vehicles, spongy pedals have ALWAYS been due to air in the system (for whatever reason), and NEVER due to new pads / linings - the brakes in this instance are less effective until everything beds in, but are never spongy Whistle .

My money is still on air in the system (probably at the rear end as it was the rear calliprs which were changed. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up 2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)

Never noticed the rear calipers were done. Take it all back Embarassed

The rear calipers may need bled 2 or 3 times to get all the air out. Been caught out with that one before Thumbs Up

That will teach me to skim through posts Laughing
