Another 'Turbo' question

Been doing some reading and came on to post about a problem only to find the other thread on Turbo wooshing! That was helpful but I have different set of symptoms...

In short I need to get someone to diagnose it properly but...

I've got a 'flat-spot' in acceleration that is only apparent under load. I can put my foot down going up hill and I get like a small hesitation before it picks up and accelerates as normal. Noting that sometimes I can get a small 'chirp' from the engine (waste-gate?) I have read loads of threads on things like injections and torque converters but I'm not getting those kind of symptoms (cattle griding/torque converter or smoking/split hoses)

I had read up on sticking actuators and this kind of fits the profile. So just soliciting if anybody had similar problems?

Is access to the actuators easy enough as it might be worth some WD40 and a wiggle?!

Thanks

Jim

jammed EGR??...I say that with a view to getting a conversation started, not because I have a great knowledge.

I had that same issue with a VW Passat and the EGR had to be replaced as it was coked up and wouldn't operate correctly GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

Yes - that was the other possbility I forgot - although it appears from reading that this would also give rise to some 'smoking' issues - which I don't have - but thanks for kicking it off!

Try new air filters and see if that helps? I often get clogged filters and changing them adds about 10% more airflow (or more importantly restores the airflow I've lost).

On A 2004 TD6, I had a hesitation in the power coming in, then eventually no power from the turbo

(40 -50 K's max hit a hill almost stop)

diagnostics pointed to the vacuum actuator, wasn't, when I pulled the turbo apart the variable vanes were no

longer variable gummed up solid so the vacuum actuator could not move them. What pointed me at the Turbo was

from idle give it a good boot full and as the revs die off it sorta farts / coughs through the air box.

easy fix just watch the clip that holds the actuator rod in the turbo spent hours looking for the bloody thing on the garage floor
