Rear wheel arch rust a warning


If you have a few paint bubbles on your rear wheel arch take note ,So a few days off decided to tackle the bubbles on the rear wheel arch inside the back doors , drivers side done yesterday not half as bad as expected bit of pitting so scrubbed with wire brush in drill and kurusted , then painted today with hammerite , between coats decided to remove the passenger side sill trim and what you see in the picture is the rear jacking point , there's also a couple of small holes in the arch aswell , so stopped for now while decide what to do , another glorious day of range rover ownership , [/img]

Yep. Looking into what to do , wether I weld it up my self ( not my first choice as I'm not a great welder ) or give it to somebody to cut all the crap out then weld new metal in then I'll paint it and put all the trim back . Will start seeing about quotes tomorrow .!

Right next to the plastic petrol tank as well.....

That does look pretty bad, thought mine was bad enough



It's a flat level sill though so should be easy enough to do... and there is space to protect the tank whilst grinding and welding....

Had it into a bodyshop today for a look £250 - £300 for both sides sorted out so it'll be going to be done in a few weeks .

Finally sorted this out did it myself in the end borrowed a mates mig welder and plated the hole then treated all with kurust then filled painted and polished the bits you see and stone chipped the bits behind the plastic , also repainted the wheel arch lip and got a plastic protector strip for it , now got the front subframe to go at where the powder coating is coming off .

I'll post some before and after pics of the other side tomorrow as I'm painting it if the weathers ok , it's nowhere near as bad no major holes just a lot of surface pitting from the rust
