I did northern france last year with the tin tent no trouble at all, get the caravan club mayday insurance to ensure that you dont break down! (If you buy it you are bound to not need it) At least they will recover the van if you do. If it is a twin axle you may find that the ones the aa and rac may not cover longer vans.

We had no trouble at all last year and are going again at the end of the week. Just make sure that oil, water, screen wash pas fluid tyre pressures on the car and caravan are good and you should be fine  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

We've always bought Red Pennant from the CC (use mayday in UK) for that very reason, LR Euro cover is max 7m and that's about 1500mm too short for me !!

Used it last year when the XC90 threw 3 injector rails and Red Pennant were superb, first time in over 10 years european towing had to use it. They took the Volvo away and we got to Disney and then onto the Dordogne and Midi Pyrenees with a shiny BMW for the remainder of the holiday to tow with. Had red pennant for last 12 years now and wouldn't travel without it tbh

I didn't imagine the TDV8 would give me any grief tbh, but as a first time with it as the tugboat she'll be working very hard...or not if it's as good as you guys say...

One tip a spanish driver gave me was to open the bonnet on the service aire's when you stop for lunch etc...it lets the cooler air in for a small period, I have been doing it ever since !

So if your in France and see a Stornoway TDV8 with canoes and bikes on...with a Lunar Lexon 650 in tow..wave and I'll wave back !! Or if you have a CB I am usually on CH22 as a few of us travel together ! Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........
