England 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Tonga Green

Just for your reference...thankfully, my premium hasn't increased too much...

Sainsbury's Car Insurance via gocompare.com were still the cheapest for me Neutral

Fully Comp
56reg Range Rover TDV8 VogueSE (factory immobiliser / no tracker)
Market Value / 50k miles / No modifications
10'000 miles per year (only covered 6000 miles last year)
Age 36 (only driver)
Full UK - 3 points SP30 (since 2007)
Self Employed (includes business/professional use)
Driveway (South Bucks)
8yrs NCD
and £500 excess (£250compulsory/£250voluntary)

Last years premium - Oct 2009 £728

This years premium - Oct 2010 £762

swiftcover.com were the nearest in comparison at £805 - but virtually every other insurer was quoting £1000+
(a few wouldn't even quote due to business use and/or without tracker)

One thing I found when I reached 50............... Saga deluged me with unsolicited junk mail, including offers of cheap car insurance tailored to the over 50's. I phoned for a quote on the same terms as LRI were covering me for (LRI's standard policy) and sent them the schedule. They took nearly three weeks to get back to me and the nearest quote for the same cover was more than ten times what LRI wanted. I asked it was the off road cover that was sending the quotes sky high and they said no, it was the unlimited Continental use and cover for trailers and caravans abroad that was the sticking point, even when the Continental use was taken out and the cover for a caravan was removed they were still uncompetitive. For the Range Rover, off road use cover isn't really necessary, however having it means that should I venture off a classified road then I know I am covered - I learned the hard way a few years back when I got a Disco2 well stuck in a muddy field at an agricultural show that insurance companies these days will refuse to honour a claim if you have a claim while not on a classified road, they consider that to be offroading. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
