Went to look at an 06 SC today and was gobsmacked that the lower edge of the upper tailgate was rusted the whole length, my 89 classic is better!! My 04 is absolutely fine despite living a hard life in a s''t climate.
Is this an age issue or what? any help appreciated as I am looking to keep my old girl and get an SC

Sadly it's a common issue, but if it's not been replaced under the 6 year anti corrosion warranty, which on a 2006 car is unlikely if it's that bad, you're onto plums! Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Is this where you realise yours is not in too bad shape after all ?

I've already replaced mine with one from a later car.

I think sometimes water gets trapped in it somehow.

Water still runs out of mine after a wash, and I'm not sure how it gets in there......
