Ride Quality SDV8 SE

I have ride quality issues with my L405.

LR state, '...infinitely variable dampers ... that maintain a composed and balanced ride ... adaptive dynamics to further improve peerless ride quality... etc.'

I wish this were true. For the first 3 weeks it was ok, but now it bounces all over the place and add to that the 'knocking', then it all makes for a most uncomfortable ride and is no pleasure, even on 20-inch wheels.

I am glad I kept the L322 which has far better road manners. I agree the L405 is now superior in corners, (and extras) but alas hopeless on even the better road surfaces.

My dealer thinks this ride is ok. They all do it. It must be me or the way I drive!!! Is this true?

Visit the Honest John website car reviews for the updated May 2014 test. The information from here is reliable and unbiased. It lists what is good and also:-

'What to watch out for'.

[i]'Ride quality of Vogue SE on standard 20-inch wheels heavily criticised by owners. ....21-inch or 22-inch wheels with even lower profile tyres that will make the ride even worse'.

So it's not just me then.

Are you being shaken instead of stirred?

"Heavily criticised"? Not sure John is being Honest.

If the ride has changed since you got it, something is obviously wrong with it.

Doodle,

I think you have answered your own question 'for the first three weeks it was ok'

Evidently something has changed and you need to push for a resolution. Note the L322 has a well documented issue with a broken wire to the damper resulting in a rock hard ride from the adaptive dampers fitted from 2010 onwards. I know I experienced it.

My VSE on 20" wheels rides as well as it did when it came out of the factory. Compared to our D3 and FL2 it is like a magic carpet.

Good luck.

Your dealer is right, they do all do it to a greater or lesser extent if they have the active suspension (i.e 4.4d and 5.0sc).

You need the new ARC valve block with dampers. It transforms it Thumbs Up
