Heated Mirrors

Should my TDV8 have heated wing mirrors?

If so how do they work?

Carn't find any ref. to having / using them in the handbook

But like the heated washer jets, what starts them off?

Is it anything to do with having the lights on? I know it sounds weird but they can't be automatic or based on temperature.

I've seen them working on FFRR's, slight smoke lifting from the glass as moisture is evaporated. Discovery 4 HSE

RAVE states that the wing mirrors come on automatically when outside temp is low (below 15c I think) but if you switch on the rear window heater this also overrides them on.

Also, I've noticed that the heating in the mirrors isn't too strong (certainly no audi!) But they do work just time.

Photochromatic (auto dimming) wing mirrors are also thicker so they take longer to heat. FFRR TD6 06MY. Cairns Blue, Blue Hide. LR 7 Spoke 20" Wheels, S/C Grill and Vents. Privacy Glass and Side Steps

Don't know how it works. Having just replaced my mirror, I can confirm that the mirror does have heating tracks at the back of the glass which are powered by two cables.

From Workshop manual

Mirror Heating
Mirror heating on the driver's and front passenger's doors is controlled by the respective door modules.
The BCU receives the outside temperature value via the K-bus. This outside temperature value is converted to a
switch on-time percentage according to the following table and then transmitted via the P-bus to the two door
modules. Mirror heating is active with the ignition at position II.
If the wiper is switched on, the switch on-time percentage is raised in accordance with the following table.... If you like it, who cares what other people think

Does anyone know the cost of a left hand (passenger side) replacement heated mirror glass? or does anyone know the Land Rover part number for this glass?

Car is an early 2005 Vogue TD6

And if replacing it is as difficult as it was on the RRS then it's something best left to the dealer, if only so they pay for all the mirrors they break trying to replace yours! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
