LPG tanks will NEVER go pop in an incident like that as long as they have been installed correctly.

They are safer than petrol tanks as they will slowly vent pressure off as they get hotter leading to a controlled fire.

For them to explode the fuel inside has to expand at a rate greater than the safety valve can handle, which has been known but is very very rare and more confined to gas canister storage areas full of tanks! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

I'm looking at SC's and TDV8's to replace the P38 at the moment.

Budget wise I'm not sure. There's some cheaper, higher mileage ones about that would in theory do for towing the trailer and hacking about which is what the P38 was used for or there's some low mileage ones for a bit more money that are probably in better condition so I'm just trying to decide what to spend at the moment.

David
Im shocked to see the pics and hope you're ok.
It was only a car and the trailer was more important with your precious cargo.

Reports suggest the lucky escapee may become a member of that jammy and mostly envied burgeoning club on here... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I'm glad that you are OK and got to save the Citroen, parts/money. I probably would have done the same, whether it is smart or not.

Sorry to hear the P38 is gone but nice to hear you are now considering joining the SC club (you are most welcome).

Ironic that it is usually Citroens that do this kind of "spontaneous combustion" thing. I know of many of them going up in smoke like this. Two of people quite close to me (including my ex her CX !!). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I've been today to see a 5.0 Supercharged at a dealer in Welwyn Garden City.

Struggling to work out if I can justify it or not as it'd be in addition to the TDV8 AB that we've got. At the moment I'm leaning towards the not side of the argument at the moment.

There are however a few nice 4.2's around for not a lot of money.

It's a shame I can't find our old 3.6 TDV8 Vogue SE that Jason bought from us as I'd love to have that one back again.

How can you not love the SC and never want anything else Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

It is quite a bit of money indeed but they are much nicer to drive than the 4.2 IMHO and I loved the 4.2. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
