They look like they make some nice cages Thumbs Up

But i have to say my preference is http://www.lintran.co.uk and this is purely a personal opinion and not meant to offend.

This is the cage I went for purely because they are made of a material that keeps the dogs cool in the hot whether and warm in the winter , well that is there claim anyway Smile

But I have to point out everything is an extra Big Cry

The escape hatch was extra cost Exclamation

The rubber base inside the cage was complementary but normally at an extra cost Thumbs Up

The rubber bumper protector was an extra and that doesn't go completely under the cage , it only goes about half way but I really do like the way it clips to the back of the cage Exclamation

But I have to say I am very pleased with it but I wanted to make use of the full hight and this cage is part of there security range and it cost a small fortune Big Cry

And this is a small mod to protect the bodywork of the car as the doors of the cage make contact with it Very Happy

Apologies in advance if I have gone over the top with this reply Embarassed

Cheers

What benefits do these have? I'm genuinely intrigued if I am missing something.
I just put mine in the boot with a half-height dog guard.
I suppose I'm lucky as he doesn't chew. Yes the boot gets a bit muddy (rubber mat helps) but that cleans off. He's trained not to jump out unless I give the command to do so.
Is it the cleanliness?

I use a hatch bag and dog guard, plus I made a fly screen to fit using sand colour mesh and old flexi tent poles to make it spring fit for quick fitting and removal but it will probably never come out, no need really. It's more to stop dog hair entering the cabin space than flies Laughing

Has anyone tried the Boot Buddy and Safe-D-Guard (horrible name!)?

http://www.boot-buddy.com/Safe-D-Guard/safe-d-guard.asp

A Perspex dog guard. Clearly not as secure in an accident but better for visibility.

@ Emperor Mong

We have always used cages and just my personal opinion they are safer for the dogs and this one with solid sides , when they start shaking and the drool splatters Rolling with laughter it can't go very far and these are known as cool cages and they do work Thumbs Up

The cage in this picture was originally in an 850 volvo and with a bit of trim scrapping this lived in the V70 for seven years and it to worked really well as a hound transporter Laughing

The other point I have to put across is , some friends of ours had the same type of cage as in the picture, well they were rear ended badly and apparently the cage helped save the dogs for serious harm, I mean you can believe this or disbelieve it but like the one above it has an escape hatch so they were able to drop the seats and get the dogs out Whistle

I suppose it really comes down to personal preference Thumbs Up

Cheers

I would feel like I'm putting them in a little doggy prison. I know the dog couldn't care less...

Which reminds me of a funny story.

We were about to get our first puppy and had bought a dog cage to help house train him. However, the kids (4 and 6 at the time) thought it was a great game to go in the cage as a play den.

Anyway, I was running a £750mio deal for a FTSE 100 company. It needed a delicate conference call at the weekend to keep everything on track. I was leading the call with my lawyers, the client's lawyers and my syndicate bankers on the line - all very high powered.

My 4 yo boy ran into my study where I was holding the call and started going "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" very insistently. I stopped what I was saying and told the other participants that I just needed to deal with my son. Foolishly, I did not mute the line.

"What do you want mini-Emperor?" I asked.

"Daddy, can you lock me in the cage again, please?"

It took some explaining.
