SOLAR

FREAKIN'

ROADWAYS!!!!!!!!

Never happen, initial expense to lay would be astronomical, imagine the number of tiles required to replace 1km of road

Bloke maths......

1000m x 5.5m wide road = 5500sq m.
Approx 5 tiles per sqm
27500 tiles......
At a nominal $500 per tile (guestimate)
$13.7m per km.....

Sorry guys that is never going to happen. Cool idea though There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

FREAKIN COOOOOL MAN, well actually freakin warm but hey who's nitpicking now Whistle Whistle Whistle

Cost is likely to be high in the beginning, like with normal solar panels, they were super expensive and prices have come down dramatically.

Still the cost needs to be coming from taxes, private funding etc.

I don't believe that it is possible to say anything about being cost effective in the long term (less maintenance for example).

Before anyone can make claims like that, we need full scale testing under real life conditions etc.

This should start with government and/or university testing to ensure it is done properly.

If we (the general population of the world) can make it work, we should make every effort to do so. I may give some money on Indiegogo, just for trying !!

My biggest concern (and I had another ride in this morning in pouring Singapore rain (Malaysian side was dry)) is how will the surface function in the wet. On motorbikes that is kind of a big thing Smile I feel there is a lot of development work still to be done and it should be done because if it works (technically and financially) it would be AWESOME FREAKIN GREAT BRO MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I'd wonder how it would work in colder climes. First, you get less sun, so less benefit per fixed cost. Also, as someone who has seen frost heaved roads, I wonder how all the nice little electrical connections will stay together.

Due to cost, I wonder if some sort of solar "paint" could be developed with nano solar cells suspended in it. Whistle

Great! And even if you do not like the paper where it is wrapped in, you do not throw away the gift. The benefit would be enormous, for the planet, for all of us, so even for you. I'll support them, come on all you FFRR drivers, you can't be that conservative. Let's support them with a 3 day fuelconsumption in money. You can afford it!
