The following message centre reports come up after about 15-20 minutes driving:

'Air Suspension is inactive' and 'HDC inactive'

These are accompanied by the following lights coming on:

Emergency Brake Assist - on amber
Anti-lock Braking System - on amber
Dynamic Stability Control - on amber


The air suspension seems to be fine and working as normal. The car will remain at any setting for several day's if not used and seems to have no problem when on the move.

HDC, I haven't tested. But I find it odd that these 2 systems show faults at exactly the same time.

The brakes also seem to be fine and give me no concern.

DSC, again I haven't tested this (don't know how to)

But again I wonder why all these faults present themselves at exactly the same time.

I am wondering if they share any common connections, fuses or relays.

Can anyone shed any light on this please.

Sounds like it could be an ABS sensor out or dodgy connection to one. Have a check of the wiring to the sensors for any splits or broken wires, and also that the plugs are ok.

That is the common denominator in all the faulty systems; abs, hdc, dsc etc all use the abs sensors as their point of reference. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Is the steering really light at all speeds ?

+1 for the above. Pretty sure will be wheel speed sensor type issue. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Is your steering wheel aligned, ie not off-centre? I had a similar issue due to this. 2007 TDV8 Vogue SE Java Black

Speedo is working fine.

The steering seems normal ie it is not to light making it skittish at speed.

I am also thinking sensor. I will have a good look around all the wheels and check the condition of any I can find (when I can get the time.

Did you have tyre and/or brakes done recently ?? Sometimes mechanics aren't that carefull and damage either a wheel speed sensor or ride height sensor.

Other problem could be the battery going. So worth doing a check on battery and generator. Just check voltage with the engine running and with the engine off.

Battery issues or better low voltage can generate a lot of false alarms. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Another possible is the yaw sensor (in the center console) - if this goes open circuit that's the symptoms you'll get - could be fine when it's cold but intermittent open circuit as it warms up.

If possible read the codes - there'll be something logged.

Where, within the centre console would I find the yaw sensor. I am thinking that might be a good starting point.

As has been pointed out, other causes can be an ABS sensor (although you know your rear left is working as the speedo is working and the steering isn't getting either extremely heavy or extremely light at all speeds) or a misaligned steering wheel/column (steering angle implausible error) which can be caused by a poor tracking where the steering column isn't at 0 degrees rotation when the front wheels are straight ahead i.e. the system thinks you are continuously turning but the other inputs don't agree with this (in particular the yaw sensor), so you get an implausibility error which will cause various things to drop off line.

Anyway, the yaw sensor is inside the center console and sends an analogue signal to the ABS unit - if this goes awry you'll get the failures you're getting.

Sadly, I'm in Scotland otherwise I'd offer to come and read the codes for you - I suspect it'll pinpoint the problem pretty quickly.

As said, always get a code read before randomly replacing parts, it should pull up exactly which sensor is off line or faulty. Any good indy should do it for you at minimal cost. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

As I only came across this yesterday, I haven't had time to do a google search for the faults being reported. However armed with the info you have supplied, it seems that this is exactly the problem I have. But as you say, I will get it checked out first.
