United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Loire Blue
1st mth ownership summary

1 month into first RR ownership so thought i'd post up how it's gone.
Truck was purchased for the wife as I don't need a car and have a weekend toy to keep me busy.

Firstly the car. It's an L322 2002 4.4 vogue with 83,000miles, Adriatic blue with parchment leather. Car had full LR history and had the gearbox and tc replaced at c60kmiles. Not perfect and required a bit of tidying up eg hill decent switch broken and in need of some Paint correction. Looked like its had regular machine car washes and lacking the love of a proper 2 bucket wash.

Ownership started badly as the day after purchasing I received a "transmission overheating" error message on the dash. Purchased privately so feared the worst about what else could be wrong. Anyway my plan was always to get a major service done so it just gave the indie something else to fix while been serviced. Transmission service carried out together with replacement of the wiring loom (contains sensor) which was identified as the problem and meant a bigger bill than I had hoped for but the problem was fixed. Service also flagged up 2 tyres getting low and drive belt due for replacement. Got the indie to do both belts.

I knew when purchasing that the tyres would need replacing and i never really liked the 19" wheels that were on the car so set about sourcing some 20" supercharged wheels and tyres. Got a good ebay deal on some with 6mm tread. Would love to do a conversion (even if just a 2006 Front grill, bumper and lights) when money allows but for the time being I've fitted some genuine 2010 side grills and a Hawke supercharged style front grill. I really like the side vents and I know the grill will unsettle a few of the purists on here but i think it looks good for the £80 it cost.

Finally got the wheels fitted today and have the air con a regass (now icy cold).

So what's it cost me;
Car £6,000
Major service £360
Transmission service and wiring loom £500
Drive belt and secondary belt replacement £95
Replacement 2nd hand hill decent panel £80
Genuine side repeaters £16
Genuine 2010 side vents £35 (new from eBay. Very pleased with this deal).
Supercharged wheels £550
Hawke supercharged style front grill £79. Have chased up the LR badge.
OEM wheel bolts £65
Air con regas £44
Wheel balancing and fitting £28
Removed and repainted bonnet air vent £10 rattle can primer and paint.

So for slightly over £7,700 I think I've got a decent looking truck that I hope will serve us well. Initially we found it quite large and a bit of a pain to park in some parking buildings but apart from that we are both loving driving it. Averaging 20mpg although have done a few long trips and have resisted the temptation to give it beans off the lights.

The to do list
- find a detailer to machine polish the paint
- replace the driver electric window switch panel as the suspension "access setting" switch seems stuck.
- replace steering wheel with recovered or new
- lower std ride height slightly

Have learned a lot from this forum since purchasing and thank everyone for all the informative posts.

Day 1.

Now looking much better. Sitting on access height for these pics.

Power of the V8...in London, 0 to 10mph in a blink of an eye Rolling with laughter

In all honesty, your FF looks really good for her age, a credit to other ( and you ) owners, enjoy too Thumbs Up

I too like my MCB FF, thankfully in the 6 months only a few things have been a pain, but the warranty covered those things, but now that has finished Im on my own! If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!
