Australia 2003 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Java Black
No fan

Gday from Tasmania, Australia.

I turn in my "Climate Control" and have no Fan. Turn on A/C to max still no fan! Set it to blow to feet, face, screen. Still no fan. turn on fan in rear and fan blows to rear.

I can hear the compressor come on in the engine bay.

I have read lots of stuff throughout the forum but cnt seem to find any stories similar to mine. I hope its something simple like out of gas!

I'll look forward to some replies and thoughts form anyone.

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

Sounds like the very common FSR problem. Have a look around, several posts on that and how to replace. Good luck. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Please excuse my ignorance but what is FSR?

And could you direct me to a post who talks about replacing an FSR. Series 1 1948 (oldest Land Rover in Tasmania)

Final stage blower resistor, relatively cheap to replace.

Its behind the central dash section and is a common problem on cars with bmw electronics. Have a search there is quite a bit of info on it.

Quite a few how too's in the links in he above thread. Fiddly job but fairly straight forward. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Gday everyone who replied so quickly and thanks for that. As you can see by my collection of cars below my 2003 L322 is the newest and all these electronics are driving me mad. Give me the old stuff anyday.

I have a dedicated faultmate and old laptop in the back just for this car.

I to have gone through the gearbox nightmare of a rebuild. I found a guy in Sydney who did a complete rebuild, New pump, heavy duty bearings and bigger tourque convertor. It cost me $7000 AU which included freight from Hobart to Sydney and back which took my initial $32k purchase price to $39k but now its all sorted I can drive it without any worries from the gearbox. And once youve done some Klms in my 130 Isuzu which is bloody noisy you dont mind spending that money because its so nice.

Im home from sea end of June so I will purchase this FSR from ebay and let you all know how things go.

Gday.

Just fitted my new FSR! to my L322 2003 td6

Watched all the videos of finding it and where it is!

Its in but it hasn't sorted the problem. All the lights go but no fan. A side note is that the fan in the rear comes on!

Has anyone got anymore suggestions?

The rear fans are on a separate circuit and have their own FSR I believe.

Suggest you check your connections on your newly fitted FSR (it is a right fiddle and it may feel like you have connected up OK, but in fact you haven't?) and fuses of course for the fan/s.

If still no fans, you may need to check that the main blower motor is OK, not sure where the connector is for this in order to do a test on it. .

Where did you buy the FSR from? I had same issue with a 'cheap' replacement one from ebay, got one from dealer for maybe £15 more than the ebay one and it worked straight off. Exactly the same issue as you, lights all came on as you turned the blower up but nothing actually happened. Good luck

sounds like the blower motor has given up ,had same problem I did mine last year mrd 1990 did a howto in the wiki hope that helps have hawkeye diagnostics for l322 td6 in the manchester area ,pm for deatalis.

G'day all.
Did the big dash cut out, removed even more plastic and cut into the hard rubber at the back, the piece described as with scratches. Put the fan to spare battery, after brushing out excess dust from worn brushes, which seemed to be jamming the fan from working. Managed to get fan halfway in and it broke like an egg shell. Have a good second hand coming from a great supplier in Adelaide, Triumph Rover Spares, $170. Will cut out more plastic and practise putting the remainder of the fan in the bigger space so when the 2nd arrives next week it will only need the slightest squeeze to fit it in.
I also bought a genuine FSR.
My problem wasn't electrical, my fan was just jammed, so add that to the list of things to go wrong.
Until the next drama thanks to all for the advise.

Glad your getting it sorted, have you checked to see if it has a cabin filter, sounds like it may have been taken out, this would let dust/sand in and wreck the motor....

Think I'd change it if it is there just to be sure.... Pete

Gday.

The motor is perfect. The material that jammed the motor was a build up of dust from the brushes from the motor as they will wear out as in any motor. Once I brushed that away the fan ran perfectly. There was no sign of any other leaves, dust dirt or twigs from the outside that had got into the fan shroud. The filter is near new.

My suggestion to others is if you have eliminated the FSR and the climate control unit in the dash before you extricate the fan from the hole you have cut in the top of the dash gets torch and have a good look and see if a bronze coloured dust has jammed your fan. Get into it with a brush or air blower and free up your fan. If your fan is of similar age as mine its a given that the blades will smash like egg shells either as you take it out or put it in.
