accelerator pedal performance in Sports mode

Hi folks, when selecting SPORTS mode, I have never noticed any difference in the accelerator pedal performance.

Then just after sorting out my air suspension problems ( thanks to a number of forum members advice ), I normally don’t use Sports mode except to use the gears to maintain vehicle speed on hill decents to keep within the speed limit.

But I forgot I was in sports mode after one hill decent and then a few kms up the road I noticed the accelerator pedal seemed to be more responsive.

I woke up to the fact I was still in Sports mode but left it there to “experiment” with the more responsive pedal.

Is this normal or am I imagining something that isn’t?

There is nothing about this in the owners manual. 2007 TDV8 Lux

Explanation from the workshop manual

Sport Mode
The sport mode operates in high range only and provides enhanced acceleration and responsiveness. In sport mode
the EAT ECU uses shift maps which allow the transmission to downshift more readily, hold gears for longer at higher
engine speeds, and limits the transmission to 4th gear.
Sport mode is selected by moving the selector lever to the left into the 'M/S' position. When the sport mode is first
selected, 'SPORT' is displayed in the message centre for 6 seconds and, if 5th gear is currently engaged, the EAT
ECU downshifts to 4th. 2016 3.0 Vogue

Hi BILLTU and thank you very much for that info.

While I had had this disaster for nearly 6 years, the more active accelerator response only started after the suspension was finally fixed, again thanks to those on here.

This confirms that my RR came from the factory in a faulty state and it took nearly 6 years to fix the problem.

Again, thanks BILLTU for the info.

You wouldn’t by any chance know if there is any documentation in the workshop manual that indicates there is a direct relationship between the suspension and the transmission? 2007 TDV8 Lux

Just something else to bare in mind, with remapped RR's the Sport mode seems to not make any difference, due to the engine having more power, the gearbox hanging on to ratios made no difference at all. The normal gearboxes mode suited the increased power delivery better - it did with my JE mapped vehicle
