The TD6 does not tend to suffer from engine issues, or turbo. Mine costs £285 a year in road tax.

Mine does about 34mpg on a run and only sounds diesel like when pulling away.

Gearboxes are more the weak link on the td6, but I'd say that's cheaper to fix than the engine issues on a tdv8.

The petrols are cheaper, but to my mind are not as robust as the higher mileages rack up.

Some add LPG, but that makes a complicated car even more complicated.

I like petrols, but not with that mpg.
