Autotrader

Strange one this, just noticed 2 £36 transactions leave my account listed as autotrader.co.uk then 3 days later 2 £36 credits from a autotrader.co.uk
I have never used autotrader! Anyone had this craziness? No idea why this has or would happen just glad the amounts have gone back in! Evil or Very Mad

I wonder if this is one of those scams where they take money out to make sure they can, then put it back in to avoid worrying the card holder?

Some people would see the money go back in and think nothing more than an admin error..........until they withdraw a huge sum since the know they can access the account?

I'd be reporting an effectively stolen card and if the bank brushes it off.........change your bank.......its much easier nowadays!

How can it be an admin error as they would need your CVV as well from the back of the card.

IMO get them to escalate it ASAP and get a new card sent out and the old one stopped.

There are plenty of scams where a card is tested with a few pennies and then refunded(not always) and when it checks out they then dump the details onto a duplicate and spend on it till it cant take no more... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Definitely worth doing some further checks, as all above state admin error been given is insufficient information to be given by your bank.
This sort of thing should not be possible unless someone has all the correct details to carry out a transaction, and if they do it is a major worry!!

Had a similar one but was cash pulled to a PayPal account. started out at £12 and worked their way up to £3k over 14 transaction amounts over 3 days before the bank flagged it as suspicious and stopped the transfers. Got the money back eventually but took a couple if months of fighting and sending various documentation to prove it wasn't me..

scared the Censored out of me that someone could book over £7k against my account so easily. Thankfully I had savings i could use to pay mortgage etc. Until i got it back...

PayPal account was foreign and police not much use/help in tracing the origin so I immediately got bank to open new account and transfer everything to it which they did quite obligingly.

Not a good experience though... '08 Audi S6 Avant 5.2 V10 with Milltek non-resonated. Vrrrrrrmmmmmph

Only good words about autotrader.
They spotted fraudulent activity and refunded my account the amounts, seems my details have been stolen. They are red hot on fraud.
Advise you all to change your passwords on ebay and PayPal. Make sure it has a non alpha or numeric character in it.
Kicked off to natwest that I was advised it was admin as it clearly wasn't, they where straight onto suggesting I cancel the card!! (which I have).

Ballache but hey it's a number. I should tell the con man 'good luck stealing money, I have a 2007 range rover so inevitably I don't have any money!'
