What does everyone recommend? I have a 2005 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE with standard 20 inch rims. Currently has Michelin tyres fitted but need replacing for MOT and next few years of motoring.

Any particular recommendations for this size and car? Not going to do any off-roading in them but would ideally have to be M+S tyres as my wife is Czech so we drive over there for christmas etc...and M+S tyres satisfy the rules for winter tyres over there.

Pirelli Scorpion Zeros get a lot of favourable opinion on here. I have Continental Cross Contacts but they are wearing badly so will be replacing with Pirellis all round. Tom

Nixons do ok on here too, depends on you mileage really. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

I would put some proper winter tyres on to drive to the Czech Republic in winter.
Can confirm Conti's wear badly on the edges. Michelin or Pirelli are the way to go.
I drive all-year round on Pirelli Scorpion Winters.

Scorpions have a great reputation...

Nexens seem to fine. I have them on the 4.2 in Nigeria (not a good test bed compared to UK/EU driving though).

The 5.0 has Toyos and they seem to do fine (virtually new when I bought the car). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Eugene, i have many customers that have tried the Toyo's in 20" and report back they wear out much quicker than Conti's!!! Toyo's in 22" seam to last forever! But run the edges off in 20" guise (different compound maybe?)

Just for information purposes sir I know you have not had the new car for too many miles yet (to judge the wear rates)

I looked at the Toyo's as they are £200 cheaper than the Pirelli's. I estimate that we are going to do 4000-8000 miles a year in the car. Last set were changed at 49000 miles in November 2010 and it has done 71000 miles now. Tyres have about 3mm left and offside front outer edge has worn badly so will swap with spare for the moment and run them for a few miles more before changing the whole set.

I can get four Pirelli's for £746, sound about right?

Pirelli Zero number 1 choice.

The TOYOS are also Y-rated up to 186mph and are VERY smooth and look/feel great on the car. Wear WILL be greater than Zeros though as Craig says.

AJS tyres have the TOYOs in at a great price, ZEROs too...

Yokohama Parada on mine, fantastic tyres.

I'm still on my Nexens and after 9000 miles they look as new. They are M&S rated and I have found them to be very good. Present :2008 TDV8 HSE
