Big business for companies that come and drain the fuel on the forecourt if you realise quickly enough and I think even the AA etc... do t as well.

I have heard of cars being written off by insurance companies following a misfuelling when claimed.

I used to have a special filler on my Pathfinder that wouldn't open for the smaller unleaded nozzle.

Best solution is not to buy a car that runs on fuel intended for tractors and lorries etc.... (no offense meant to diesel lovers) There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

That is the approach I would have taken (although even at £1,103 its a bit steep!) 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Definitely think Porsche were pulling a fast one, £15k is just way excessive to remove petrol from a diesel car, and a flush should be more than sufficient.

I would also guess it was dependant on how far the car travelled with the incorrect fuel as it may damage DPF etc but even so £15k seems way way too high.

I have petrol cars and diesels aren't very popular here except for trucks. You need to search out diesel.

However, I thought the fuel fillers were different and wouldn't fit in the wrong car. Fueling errors I've heard about have usually been the filing station putting the fuel in the wrong pump.

What's worse, diesel in petrol or petrol in diesel? I'm thinking a petrol car full of diesel just wouldn't start and need a very thorough cleaning. Wouldn't petrol in a diesel engine start igniting too early and causing damage?

a mate of mine bought a 335 bmw touring brand new, when his misses filled it with petrol and tried to drive it home and kept trying to start it when it cut out resulted in a new engine, he wasn't happy to say the least

When the TD6 was released in 2002/3 JLR would relieve you of a large amount of money if you filled the tank with petrol... They would want to change the whole fuel system too

The petrol does nasty things to pumps long term apparently which is why they would change out the full system...

Especially as they would void the warranty if you did NOT do this Lets hope Porsche have not read the article when this ladies fuel system starts to play up in the coming weeks
