England 2002 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Giverny Green

I fell in love with Range Rovers when they first came out in June 1970. I was 9 years old and got very excited when I saw the first road test in Motor magazine.
It took me until 1989 to get one though and I have had Range Rovers ever since.

My first was a 1971 model in Tuscan blue - 2 door with the original vinyl seats and floor covering. The registration number was XAR287J and it died of rust in 1994.

My second one was a 1984 2 door in white with beige cloth seats and carpets. It had the five speed short stick gearbox It was originally from Dubai and had been converted to right hand drive. I did some welding on it and desert sand poured out of some of the box sections I was working on. Because it was an import and had been converted it was stuck with a Q plate - registration Q84GHG. I kept that until 1999.

My third was a 1993 3.9 Vogue SE automatic - one of the first with air suspension I think. It was Ardennes green with creamy beige leather. Registration was K306XNM. It was lovely but had to go in 2005 when I had saved up enough money to buy the L322 which I still have today.

All my Range rovers have been petrol V8s. I don't do diesel because it is the fuel of satan. Also all my Range Rovers have been named Rupert. (Rupert Range Rover). As my current one is number 4 he is Rupert Range Rover 4th. Sad, or what.

My driveway is currently home to the MY07 TDV8 L322, MY88 4 door Classic and '76 two door Classic. Each one of them is my favourite Rangie ever!

Ah the Classic. Too young to have one of my own, but my dad had 4; a 2 door in sahara dust (AKA sandglow, same colour as my mini clubman estate) a met green Monterverdi, a silver vogue and a bronze vogue auto. Brilliant cars all and I was allowed to drive them - used them to move my student kit from grotty flat to home and back. My father in law also had them, the last being a limited edition dark green vogue auto (a K plate) with lots of extra toys. Used to drive him to Scotland and back in it to see my sister in law. They were all great cars, but really crude compared to my current FFRR!

well had my first classic as an x reg it was white with bronze interior and I lived in London w1 at the time and the new clamps didn't fit it and when they brought out one that did I took the portapak out of the back and cut it into tiny bits - cost me a few quid that did. Then went on to a Black one then p38s 3 of those and now the ff s/c
I have always had a range rover and a jag they sort of look good on the drive - mind you the p38 spent most of its life in bits on the drive Smile

2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Alaska White

had a 23 foot power boat which was towed by a 4.2 xj coupe jag. we used the boat in the sea and at the place we launched & recovered the boat the sand sloped into the water quite steeply so we would reverse the trailer with boat on into the water till the rear of the boat floated off the trailer then uncouple, reversing the process for recovery.

one day whilst recovering the boat, the jag's rear wheels dug in and the car got stuck. tide came in and filled the car with water!

jag was replaced by an old left hand drive 1970's classic RR which was a far better towing vehicle. it was decided that the RR would be sacrificial & this made launching and recovery much easier since the entire trailer and car floor would go into the sea. no chance of getting stuck and as there were no carpets and as the car had plastic seats we simply jet washed the inside of the car to get the sea weed out.

United States 2011 Range Rover Supercharged 5.0 SC V8 Santorini Black

Growing up my dad had a horrid yellow (sorry if I offend anybody) 1978 Range Rover 2 door, and a absolutely brilliant Venetian red Range Rover with a creme leather interior. My dad always talked about, and still does for that matter, how much he loved that car and how cool he thought it was the own the first Range Rover with leather that any of the dealerships had seen in the area I grew up (Northwest Bristol) Being born in 1980 I basically grew up in my dads rangies, his spitfire, his audi Quattro, my mums BMW 6 series, and her Ford Sierra rs Cosworth. Too bad we had to sell all of them when we migrated to the other side of the pond in '89. I can still picture my dad lining up all of the cars in our drive on a Sunday to wax and polish them. He came from nothing, and being able to even afford a car was something that hadn't happened in his family before, and I can only imagine how proud you'd be to own 6 of arguably the best cars of the 70's and 80's. Current Cars -
2011 Range Rover Supercharged (mine)
2014 Mercedes GL-550 (wife's)
2014 Jaguar F-Type R (mine)
2012 Mercedes CLS63 (wife's)
2009 GMC Yukon Denali (shared)
2010 Land Rover LR2 (daughter's)
1994 Chevrolet S-10 custom drag racing truck (9 sec 1/4 mile; fast as hell)
2012 Lexus RX350 (wife's)

Had a Series 3, two TDi 300 Discos and a D3. Unreliability of the D3 put me off LR products for 3 years but I am now back after owning a Cayenne, which was far better than I expected. Not owned a Classic RR, but would love one before they start going for telephone number money.
