Tyre Size Mismatch?

Morning Crew

Her indoors managed to wipe out a 20" V Spoke alloy off a MY10 TDV8 this week whilst I was in London - bless Censored

Looks like no alternative but to fit spare and order a new wheel - beyond repair me thinks.

Trouble is all the other 3 wheels have about 6mm to 6.5mm tread but the new one (in the boot) is about 8.5mm tread. I'm sure I read here somewhere (here) that this is a "no no" as the difference is around 2mm (maximum offset between axles or sides)?

Can the spare be fitted and left or should the old 6.5mm tread be put on the new wheel.

Got a 1,000 mile run Santander to South of Spain next week so as is usual, her timing is brilliant Evil or Very Mad

Any thoughts appreciated. Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van). Plus one mint condition Track Day Car in the form of an E36 M3 3.2L Evolution circa June 1996 with lots of go faster bits and only 52k miles on the clock! Oh, plus a few bits to make it slow down really quickly as well! Luvverly.

That is a difference in circumference of about 0.3%.

I can't see how that can possibly make any difference, baring in mind I've not seen a perfect straight road lately.
All roads I use would cause a greater difference between wheels.

Hello Fox

I'm sure I read somewhere that too much mismatch can 'scrub' heat into the centre transfer box (bearing in mind I'm about to 1,000 miles at a ridiculous cruise control setting) Twisted Evil Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van). RTFM?

If its an issue Land Rover need you to be aware of, it will be in the manual, or, failing that, ring a few dealers but beware, they'd love to sell you 3 matching new tyres if they sense fear. Discovery 4 HSE

RTFM.

Interesting.

The RRS had terrible warranty issues particularly related to the suspension and height sensors! Funnily enough it did not say they were rubbish in the manual Whistle Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van).
