Think I like the idea of the silicon spray as me doing something like that will more than likely end up breaking something but hey I might have a go at taking it apart

I used the WD40 'specialist' PTFE spray seems to have done the trick.

Haha I'm exactly the same... it's more or less how I ended up owning so many rattle cans of various solvents/lubricants/protectants
