Are there any air suspension bag maintenance options?

I was wondering if there are any coatings or treatments that would help extend the length of the air suspension bags and help delay them drying out and cracking over time?

At the moment I just keep them clean with a good jet of water, but as with the door seals you can get silicon grease etc to help soften the rubber. Would something similar work on the bags?

I also wonder if it is better for the rubber if you use the different height settings on a regular basis to prevent the bags wearing or cracking through lack of use.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Tom

I just move mine between the heights every so often......

Not sure if you can do any "real" preventative maintenance. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I try to set it in offroad at least once a week and always park with access height so as to make sure it keeps the rubber supple and used. I only worry as I had to get all the bags replaced on my old 1994 Classic but the ones on the L322 seem to be much more reliable and long lived. Tom

clean the 'shafts' of dried up mud/muck... its surprising how abrasive this can be on the airbag rubber.. ... - .- -.

I reckon a good clean and a "lube" every so often wouldn't hurt - but which is better vaseline, lard or axle grease? ( you have to know the song!) - Seriously: petroleum or silicon any difference? .

if you're going to lube it up use silicon based

petroleum and rubber products are generally not good together

On one forum they were talking about silicon Shin Etsu as a product to treat the air suspension bags of a Lexus. Tom

Don't use anything that is sticky as it will just attract dirt and wear the bags out quicker Pete

Something like 303 Aerospace probably wouldn't hurt.
