Disconnecting the Battery

One of the tasks I intend to undertake is to fit dedicated vehicle specific towing electrics.

I understand that the battery earth must be disconnected before undertaking this fit.

My question is as follows:

After reconnecting the battery, will I require a cade for the information/radio/cd system?

If I do require a code (which I don't have) can I get this from Land Rover and will I need to sell my grandchildren into slavery to pay for it?
