Scotland 2019 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 V8 Loire Blue

Added wood steering wheel, Alston headlining wi leather handles, grand black as nco. Priv glass/electric towbar as cost option, dealer added couple bits, on weekend of purchase I added 22" style 8 and sidesteps.. And tracker fitted! Much prefer sdv8, ( still doesn't sound like my C63! ) but everything is personal choice.....

Quite a few magazines and journalists have expressed a preference for the way the V6 drives - ~200kg is a lot of extra weight over the front. Have to say 339 bhp and 516 lb/ft beats 254 and 443 though.

Lads you may like the 3.0L handling just because it feels more like a L322 than the 4.4L L405, fitted with the flat cornering system (a.k.a. Dynamic Response System)

The V8 feels like driving a sporty saloon, very flat on bends, the V6 moves more indeed, a la L322 - but not as much of course.

I like the 4.4L L322 better over the L405s, but should I go for a 2013-on, I would get the 4.4L A/B for sure...

... that is only if they do not offer the 5.0L anymore! Whistle

In the 5.0L I did better 0 to 62mph/100 Km/h than what LR states... with 22' and 2 passengers! this is a beast! Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Indus Silver

when i test drove both the 3.0 and 4.4 i opted for the 4.4, because i thought i'd miss the extra performance that the 4.4 has on tap if i chose the 3.0 -- however over a period of time i have tired of the fact that on start up the 4.4 is a lot more noisy than the 3.0 and the 4.4 sounds like a diesel more so than the 3.0. i accept that the 4.4 has a lot more torque and ultimate go than the 3.0, and the 3.0 needs a heavier right foot to make equal progress to the 4.4, but the 3.0 seems to suit the 8 speed box better, the changes are smoother and it seems to hunt gears less, which is odd given the 3.0 has less torque. it's not just my 4.4 either, i have driven 2 others and the charactistics are the same. where the 4.4 is noticably better is when fully laden, then the 3.0 feels a little breathless. with regard to the anti-roll system, i could live without it. the 3.0 flows better and whilst it rolls more it's not awful. and the extra 200kilo's that the 4.4 weighs is very noticable, the 3.0 turns in better because it has a lot less weight sitting over the front axle. if it wanted a sporty drive i'd use one of my other cars, but in the Rangie i want a relaxed comfortable gait. chances are i won't have a choice next time anyway, it'll either be a 3.0 TDV6 or a 3.0 tdv6 hybrid as the 4.4 won't be emissions compliant....

Interesting, and pretty much what the journalists have said. Whilst I haven't driven a 3.0 to compare, the torque of the 4.4 is what gives the car the relaxed effortlessness which it needs (and in diesel L322 form, never previously had), but I would agree there's still too much clatter at start-up and idle.

Whilst other V8 diesels are being killed off, I would hope that a revised version is on the cards given that the Sport has only recently been announced with it.

If you drive the V6 and V8 back to back on various roads and terrain all day for a few days, you will notice the V8 is simply more pleasant to drive but in everyday life, the V6 is great indeed.

Again, the Dynamic system is a great part of the V8 superior driving pleasure. Thumbs Up

A 285 BHP SDV6 & 55 electric BHP (with proper range though, say 30 miles 100% electric) would be a terrific machine Whistle l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

The 4.4 TDV8 gives me the same feeling as I had with my RRC 3.9 V8. This engine gives you at all time the feeling that you can have a smooth drive with the power ready whenever you need or want. For me it is the best diesel ever fitted into a RR in combination with the standard dynamic suspension.

The 3.0 TDV6 is a good driver but I mis that last punch when overtaking another car. And no dynamic suspension standard.

Maybe when I'm 60 I'll talk different.

Vogue has for me all luxury I need and all accessories I use.

Price difference between 3.0 autbio and 4.4 Vogue is almost nothing in Belgium. 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 silicon silver

Sorry, I'd go for the 4.4 every time - wouldn't entertain the 3.0. But that's my opinion and my choice. Thumbs Up

Thanks guys, these are great posts for me to make my choice.

Keep em coming please Thumbs Up

My last car was a 2012 4.4 Westminster.....I have driven a 2013 3.0 Vogue SE L405 on test......hardly any difference in power & drive IMO so that is what Im basing my choice on?? If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all.
