I don't get how I can only get 24.5mpg and I am not a hard driver all the time, I know how to get the best from most engines but I doubt I will ever see above 26 even on a run. Discovery 4 HSE

One thing I have found with the FullFat is that the cruise control is nowhere near as good at keeping the speed in check as the cruise on the RRS - on one long downhill that I took the RRS over many times on the route I did today the cruise would hold the speed rock steady, the system in the FFRR allowed the car to carry away to well above the set speed - the new car's cruise is also very vicious with the power application when you click resume, often forcing the gearbox to drop two gears unecessarily. It's not as progressive as the adaptive system on the RRS. I use cruise a lot, in fact whenever I can. I thought also that the 2010MY version of the TDv8 has a different tune and a longer 6th gear compared to pre-2010's Adam

Next time I take it out I'll photo it in instantaneous consumption...................... I've seen 3mpg on that but it's also good when it goes 25/45/55/70/99.99mpg when you go down a slope! Litres / 4.54 gives imperial gallons Miles travelled / gallons used gives MPG. On a FFRR a large fill up would be 90 - 100 litres or about 19-22 Gallons. 300KM = 185 Miles approx. Divide by about 20 gallons would be , ooooh, 9.5 mpg or thereabouts. Strange really, we went all metric over the last 40 odd years but we still use MPG as the benchmark. Ah well, Feet and inches were good enough for the Romans ![]() |

You must get there faster... but spend the extra time in the petrol station. ![]() 300km? I average between 950 and 1050 km per tank. |
