The FFRR armature takes a square receiver type drop plate tow hitch - this is bolted to a backing plate on the "hitch" and can be removed to replace it wih anything else that will fit into the same bolts positions. I converted mine to take a Freelander1 Bike rack and I can still use it as a tow hitch as well as the bike rack is mounted on a plate between the backing and drop plate hook. This is what it looks like

Part Numbers are from my 6 years old FFRR Accessories Brochure so may have changed in the intervening time:
Tow Bar Armature - Pt No VUB00740
Drop Plate Tow Bar - Pt No VUB00720
The detachable tow hook VUB00730 also fits into the receiver and Combination Towball Jaw Unit will also fit onto the drop plate instead of an ordinary hook.
I can scan the pages from my brochure if you want them

mmm not sure...thats just the tow hook isnt it?...i need all the metal work that mounts to the chassis with the square connection ready for me to mount my reciever/hitch.
If you look at the pic of the defender below you can see the green hitch attached to the reciever via 4 bolts that is in turn located into into a 2" reciever mounted on the cross member of the 110.

I want to be able to have the ability, using the same mounting solution, to mount the reciever to both the 110 and the rangie....does that make sense?

If i could find a pic, i recon the part number Tim quoted for the armature is the right part i need Thumbs Up

It looks like what you need is the armature, basically it's a subframe that has the square receiver built into it and bolts on under the car - it was LRs attempt to make one system for all markets and has interchangeable fittings that go into the square receiver. I will scan the picture of it in the morning and also take a photo of what is on my car 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

The armature is on the left of the picture and gets bolted onto the chassis under the car, the only problem you might have is that it is mounted very low compared to the height of the Defender's

Here it is fitted to my FFRR, the car is at access height and the armature is well recessed under the car, just in front of the rear exhaust box
