OK,

For the first time I've got V8 envy.

NKSC has only gone and got himself a spanking new C63 AMG, and the exhaust note is simply awesome. I've done a track day at MB World in the C63 and fell in love. it was the very start of my long quest to get back into a petrol V8.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a good replacement exhaust that sounds AMG like, but doesn't look stupid. I've seen ones where the tips are nearly central or it looks like a dogs dinner, I want it to be invisible like the OE system but with possibly oval pipes at the rear and more NOISE!

The ones I have seen online so far include:

Hamann - V expensive and no sound bites on website
Quicksilver - not expensive but write up and video don;t match up, they show a 4.4 V8
Supersprint - I could buy an AMG for the money! (5700 Euros)
JE Engineering - Startech switchable cat back system £3650



I'd prefer an off the shelf developed and tested system rather than custom built one off by a scaffolding tube bending company who do Max Power cars. Discovery 4 HSE

I have no idea whether these guys would do one for a FFRR, but in my previous life as an E60 M5 Touring owner, they were the bees knees for those cars.

Sounded as good as an Eisenmann, but not stupidly loud, but custom made and fitted for about 1/3rd of the price. Lovely blokes as well by all accounts.

Never put one on my car, but my friends who had them swore by them, plus they design them to look like OEM ones..

Adam - there was a 5.o SC i test drove before i bought mine at the local dealership here that a had a good after market exhaust with valves and a switch inside the car - i will ask the saleswomen if she can gets me the address - i think she mentioned 2.500.-- Euros .... i will send her an Email now.  All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

I had one made for a Trooper V6 I used to own. Was done at a place called Custom Chrome in Nuneaton. Stainless, made for the car and was very good indeed. They will even swap around silencer options to suit your noise tastes. £600 about 8 years ago though.

the 2012 year quoted made me think that it was for the l322 but agreed it sounds like its for the l405.. ... - .- -.

I have been looking for a suitable replacement for the 4.2SC as well.........I'm sure that the Quicksilver one will be good evough quality. Best to get one custom made Adam then you can decide exactly what it sounds and looks like and you know the quality etc of the product F**K IT you only live once

the one with the switch wasn't that loud but i drove the car so perhaps behind the car it was louder... All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

I am going to rig up my GoPro camera on the back of mine and drive it about, I need to know if it sounds great from outside as it is before I spend loads on a loud exhaust!
