I wouldn't go anywhere in it and expect to get there, especially 180miles. |

Probably on its way out but check the battery terminal for tightness for good measure!

I will check the battery terminals just in case. I suppose luckily I have full aa cover if the worst happens. It's just the inconvenience of it really.

Hi well there's some good news it made the 180miles home. I had everything turned off all the way back so there was no load on the alternator. When the light came on it was sitting at 13.7v and occasionally the battery light goes out and the voltage goes up to 14.5.

Will keep you posted when I get the price hopefully not too bad as it's the jag engine with the non watercooled alternator. The difference between theory and reality is that in theory it will work. |

Well alternator replaced with a nice shiny genuine replacement had the belts done aswell. Still waiting on price as my local indie is a friend so I get the bill when ever they have time to type it up. Another job done. The difference between theory and reality is that in theory it will work. |

As Dave's alternator problem is solved I will continue the thread rather than opening a new one.

Hi Skot it was just the one alternator belt I had replaced. Excuse my ignorance it was what ever belt drives the alternator. Hope that helps.
