L322 bonnet / hood air intake vent - removal

The air vent on my bonnet is looking a little sad and I thought I'd remove it and paint it so its nice and black again. However I'm not sure how to remove it. Can it be removed?

I don't really want to have to resort to one of these to tidy it up

Thanks

It is a straight forward job to remove the bonnet vent. Take care with the clips and washer connections, these tend to get brittle over time, and can easily snap when pressure is applied. Full instructions are in RAVE, but it should be self evident what needs to come apart once you look into it.

Thanks for the tip on the RAVE. Being a new owner I wasn't aware of that. Have ha a good read and still a bit stumped on how to disconnect the wiper tubes from the air vent. Problem with the connectors being a bit old is the clips are pretty hard.

IIRC, you don't have to disconnect pipes, simply remove the washer unit from the vent, and leave pipework intact. .

Managed to disconnect the washers and rain sensors and have the grill off.

Getting a rattle can of Brunel grey made up by Halfords today and should have it painted and back on in a couple of days. Will get a few pics up loaded incase anyone else is thinking of freshening theirs up also.

Repainted mine on the TDV8 in a very close to stock colour, very nice and ends up cheaper than this unit.

Does anyone know the colour of these on the 2010+ model?
Just building my wish list and seem lettering and boot stripe are titanium, but grill edges and gills have Brunel still in them? Should the air intake remain Brunel?

Cheers
