Actually, I'm starting to believe that the fuel consumption is more of a feature Range Rover SV Autobiography LWB 5.0 S/C -17

I believe the SC engines are virtually bulletproof (if maintained and used properly) and that is one of the reasons I decided on getting an SC iso a TDV8. Also the gearbox (I had a well documented problem with my 4.2 gearbox) is also the upgraded and uprated version so I expect nothing to go wrong with it (and man does it shift well).

I've had a few electronic problems (alarm going off for no reason, see separate post), FBH has never worked properly (see separate older post) and problems with DVD player which is now sorted.

I've heard nothing but praise for the 5.0 although I'm thinking of starting some rumours to try and bring the prices down!

When you say it uses less fuel, in the same way that Gazza drinks less than George Best did! Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I heard the fuel consumption of the 4.2 is generally higher than the 5.0. For me, I can't make a comparison as my 4.2 was driven in Nigerian traffic compared to the trip with the 5.0 in Europe with mostly highway driving. The 4.2 was thirsty and the few instances I did drive it on "normal" roads it did come down to "normal" figures.

I am just starting my 7th month of 5.0 SC ownership and have loved every single day of it. No faults to report apart from the bluetooth phone connection occasionally going AWOL. A re pairing sorts it for about 3-4 weeks at a time. Parking the car for short periods (minutes))seems to exacerbate the problem!

^ I used to fly off the light in the Land cruiser years ago but used low box ( I had done the mod so the centre diff wouldn't lock when in low range), only thing you ran out of steam at 30mph! If it dont work.......burn it!
