I would love to buy a 5.0l but being a mean Scot just can't do it I bought my 2007 s/c for 14k so would have to spend double that plus a bit. Might have to stay with what I have for a bit. How long before the5.0l gets to low twenties? Any ideas?

I really dont think it will be too long before they get to that level - I even think 2 years time you should see them start to crop around 20k mark.

Doesn't matter how rich the rich are - the simple fact is most people including the rich just don't want a gas guzzler. Firstly its a pain in the ass to fill up ALL the time. Secondly with the new derv's being so good from this time period and newer - MOST people think whats the point expect for people like us who love V8's/performance/noise etc

I think from the last time I checked there are quite a few around 30k mark however I do feel these sellers are really clutching at straws and they will be there for a while.

4x4s are at the traditional low point, come the autumn / winter and they go up again.

I'd love a 5.0 too, my guessing is this time next year and you should pick something up for £22k ish.

I think that as time goes on the 4.2 SC will be a very sought after vehicle which will be cheap to buy if not run!

I suppose also the lack of vehicles sold due to the recession may have an affect. Funny thing is after years of xjr's and p38's I think the 4.2 is relatively cheap to run and at 22k the 5.0l becomes very viable

If you're not fussy about colour then you should find a leggy one for low 20's next year. The main issue is 08/09/10/11 were recession years so not that many were sold, as I found out.

Also bear in mind that the 2010 model is more desirable for other reasons than the 06-09 4.2, not just the engine but things like the facelift, improved infotainment etc. A quick gander on LR used vehicles shows 25 cars with the 5.0 S/C engine in the main dealer network in the UK at present. That's not a large number although this is the quiet time of year for 4x4 sales. Maybe October time on will show a few more. The cheapest now is 32 clap so expect that to firm up as the weather gets worse.

Maybe mid 20's then in spring 15, assuming you want half sensible mileage etc. Who knows for sure, but if things remain as they are now in terms of a bit of economic recovery then there will be more buyers after those few cars too so that might influence things a bit.

The 5.0 seems almost impossible to sell here in Sweden!

The cheapest available FFRR MY2010 is a TDV8 3.6 and it's priced at 43k GBP, the most expensive is a MY11 4.4 TDV8 priced at 56k GBP.

My 5.0 had been up for sale for around 14 months! 43k miles and 1 owner, in immaculate condition. They started asking around 55k GBP and ending up getting 35k GBP for it.

People are scared to death over the petrol consumption! My SDV6 RRS is no slouch, but me and the misses did some runs on the motorway and the RR is just in another league. The RRS is just standing still compared to the 5.0 (ok it has 200 bhp less, but weigh less)

Same here in Ireland. I've only ever seen one RR Supercharged and I think It was a NI one.

To be fair one rarely see any new Range Rovers over here. The majority maybe 8/10 new l405 ones I've seen have been UK Reg including NI. They are just too expensive in the South.

It is always interesting to hear how peoples understanding of mpg goes for me it is a price differential so I can get 60 mpg in a gGolf but I have never been mean to myself and see the extra cost of fuel balanced over my enjoyment so it is something I am prepared to pay for as it makes for more comfortable driving. I have friends who buy a new car every two years then complain about it

I agree with you - I am more on the side of my enjoyment is worth a lot however it is always best to have a balanced argument and I am sure most people would LOVE to own a V8 and would 100% enjoy it but lets be honest its not very enjoyable when your wallet is being raped is it?

I have had a great mix of cars and regardless of if I can afford it; it does grate on you a little when you fill up 140 pounds worth of fuel and only get out 200-300 miles.

Arnold Clark Volkswagen on Crow Road had a nice 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography with about 35k miles on it a couple of weeks back. I went to see it but decided it wasn't for me, it was a bit to dark inside it.

Everything was black, the paintwork, the interior, the headlining, the lot.

It was priced at £35k but they rang me shortly after I'd seen it to tell me that they were reducing the price of it.

It's not on the website any more but might be worth a call as she said if they've been on a while they sometimes take them off the website.

When I drove it there was a fault with the adaptive dynamics, I saw a broken wire on the drivers side suspension turret but they sent it to Taggarts to get looked at. Performance off it was amazing when I drove it though!

The sales girl said that they weren't able to budge on price. However when I saw the fault on it and the workshop said they couldn't see anything I asked if they'd sell it at trade to me. Again, they refused stating that they'd already spent in the region of £3,000 on the car.

When I did a bit more pushing it turns out the car used to belong to one of Arnold Clark's sons. I know someone who used to know them and to quote he said "You don't want a car that's been owned/used by one of those bangers!".

After about 10 - 14 days had passed I then got a phone call from a guy in the sales team advising me that he'd dropped the price by £1000, was I still interested, I said I wasn't and left it at that.
