ACM Installation - Glovebox/Remote Key Issues

Hi,

I decided last week to fit the Land Rover ACM kit to my 2007MY TDV8 (well, it looked easy in the instructions...). All went well until I accidentally closed the lower glove box when removing it, locking it shut. I disconnected the battery (negative terminal only) before commencing the work. I proceeded anyway figuring that I'd only need to access the glovebox once I had to route the wires. I got to the point where I'd plugged it all in and so re-connected the battery (about 3 hours after I disconnected it) to try out the iPod connection, which worked. A couple of problems arose though:

1) The lower glovebox, after reconnection, didn't open using the switch. The upper glovebox worked a few times and then stopped working.
2) The remote central locking doesn't work either. The key will lock and unlock the car manually and I can start the car (no alarm sounding) but it won't do it remotely. I've tried the resync procedure a few times and it hasn't worked. I've even tried replacing the battery in my main key to see if that was the, highly coincidental, issue, but it wasn't

I seem to remember the last time I had to use the key manually that my glovebox wouldn't open either so this could be a security issue. Does anyone know if that's the case? I'm sort of hoping that they are the same issue.....

Also, does anyone know how to open the lower glovebox manually without taking the latch off and/or breaking it? Does anyone know what could be causing the remote key issue?

I haven't tried a hard reset yet and I don't have access to a diagnostic tool of any sort Sad

Thanks,
Phil(Mavester)

Thanks for the reply.

I tried the disconnect and it didn't work so I've booked it in with a specialist who knows what he's doing! Once I have this sorted (hopefully and hopefully next week) then I'll post here with what the problem was......unless it's a massively embarrassing oversight on my side in which case I'll never mention it again Wink

I thought I'd update this so that if someone else has the problem they won't find this thread and then be disappointed at the lack of an answer.

In this case the glovebox issues were caused by a faulty switch and by damage to the wiring loom (not done by me....maybe). The glovebox should always work if there's power going to it.

The key sync issues were down to the position of the moon and the number of red leprechauns in my garden. I.e. I have no idea but it seemed to fix itself after a full battery reset whilst in the garage. Job jobbed.

Thanks Mavester..Just got the kit from Dan and will be fitting asap...I had already picked up on the suggestion about latching the glove-box open already and had noted that the battery pos and neg both need to be disconnected once the glove-box is open as you cant open without power.

Cheers for the info Thumbs Up

Well that 1.5hr (LR time...ha ha) job took only 3.5 hours...most of which spent trying to get the glove-box assembly back in place so it would open and close properly...right bl Censored y job!...nice kit and easy enough instructions so recommend that as a purchase for anybody Thumbs Up

Excellent work Smile. I think I would taken longer than your 3.5 hours even without my issues. As you say, the instructions are good and it isn't that bad a job..

To my untrained ears the iPod sounds much better going through the proper channels (rather than the Aux) too.
