Ireland

To be honest you like many Irish people are stuck between a rock and a hard place. You want a nice newer RR and due to their excessive cost new, not many people purchased them. Then as a result the second hand market is extremely limited. Again due to the high cost new they are expensive to purchase and will also suffer very extremely high depreciation due to a) cost and b) high motor tax rates.

My advice; If you like the car buy it - bargain hard however.
Yet I myself apart from being young and not having the money would be very unlikely to commit such a large sum of money to a second hand car. Perhaps a new Disco 4 Commercial 5 seat would be better suited? Brand New, Cheapish tax and good residuals? I'm sorry it may not be what you want to here but this Ireland after all. Not the motor heads favourite country.

Anyhow, yes I want one bad ..
and was looking at the disco 4 which are v nice but as they are commercial wouldn't I have to pay extra vrt, get the class changed by the motor tax office and then look for commercial insurance as private insurance won't cover commercial vehicle even if used for private purposes..

At end of the day I'm paying fortune a month for car I don't like, wouldn't it make more sense to pay a fortune for car I do like? Thumbs Up

Thanks lads for the input Thumbs Up

No, you buy it as it. You would not need to get it changed to private it can stay commercial.

Worst case outcome you can register a company it's not that hard. However I don't think you will have any problems. Regarding the Ins; nearly all commercial policies cover Social, Domestic and pleasure. Insurance will not be a problem.

Otherwise;
Worst case - you could buy an older TDV8. They are more plentiful and reasonably priced.

I went today, it's a UK import, it's only had 1 official service recorded in its life and leather is pretty tired looking. The wheels have been kerbed to death also. I just picked up the 2011 hse from Stuarts and have it for the day.. It's v clean so far..
