Grabber AT's on a car that will barely go offroad

Hey all,

Picked up my 2010 TDV8 last week (I really need to do a post with some pics) and it came on a set of 19's shod with Grabber AT's.

Frankly although I'm from a farming family I live in London now and the likelihood of my FF going properly off-road bar the odd field/car park or gravel track is very low.

The grabbers certainly feel very soft in the corners - so I'm thinking of selling my 19's with them on and putting a set of 20's with conti's or equivalent on the car.

A: will it make a big difference to the handling.

B: if I stored the 19's and grabbers would they function well as a set I could put back on for winter? Or am I better just selling them?

Cheers!

Anyone got any views as to how good Conti Cross Contact UHP's are as a summer tyre?

Cheers!

That's exactly how the front two on the used set on the rims I'm about to buy. Once they're like that (they all have 5mm at the centre) do I have to replace them much quicker?

Don't worry about road tyres at all. In the picture below you can see a 2007 TDV8 halfway up its doors in a slurry puddle. That was on 255/50/20 Pirelli Scorpions. Thumbs Up

Wow! We have puddles like that on the farm - plus a ford that's probably akin to that. I'm probably not brave enough to take my only form of transport through them though..

Check out the photos in this thread. It was this day on Salisbury Plains. We all went through the deep ford, most of us did the muddy puddles and so on. Nobody got stuck though which is testament to the vehicles. I think we were all on road tyres too. Thumbs Up

Hmmm. That was my concern too. And if I replace 2 that means actually all four.

They want £750 for the four rims and tyres...

there's four tyres here on ebay that could be a good buy,

if you could get the wheels cheaper stating that the tyres are knackered then it might work out...... ... - .- -.
