When swapping between cars, I find the rotary knob difficult and slow to 'pop up' compared with a 'stick' in the Audi, but when I have only driven the Range Rover for a couple of weeks it all becomes second nature.

Only downside I find is that it is nesacerry to actually start the engine to be able to move the car at all. No more turning on ignition and letting the car 'roll' 6 inches to get it off the hosepipe.!

The XF car we're using is playing up. Twice now it has refused to turn anti clock wise from D(rive) meaning I've been unable to reverse or engage neutral etc

Paddle selectors are quite good but overall it seems to me to be an unnecessarily fussy, gimmicky design. I'm as yet unconvinced and it could put me off buying a car with that system of gear selection.

I had two Sport loan cars last year, both with the rotary selector. Didn't like them.

As others have said, my hand kept searching for the stick. Maybe it's a male security thing?

Wifey tried it and kept selecting 'S' instead of 'D' and then found herself unable to get the thing out of 1st gear as it was expecting a flappy paddle input.

There's something deeply tactile about selecting Drive with a lever. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

A man ain't truly been insulted until he stands buck naked in front of a woman and she didn't even notice. Or care.
