Hi had a 85 mile round trip today (mainly motorway/A roads with about 10 miles town driving) so decided to fill up with LPG before my journey and then refill as soon as I got back (as filling station is only a mile from my house).

I covered 87.5 miles in total and it took 23.86 litres of LPG to fill the tank on my return (same pump used).

Therefore I have calculated my actual LPG mpg is 16.8 mpg. As I pay 60p a litre for LPG the 'real world' equivalent when adjusted to compare to petrol prices is 35.6 mpg.

This was with normal paced driving a a few kickdown overtakes, do I feel a bit smug when I drive past our fellow ffrr owners stood filling up with petrol at the pumps - I would be lying if I said no! 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 v8 LPG, Java Black, 22' Hawke Alloys, Black Beast

(fuel only) i have calculated a couple of times, to be costing myself 23-25p per mile on lpg, with wide ranging journeys and round town traffic etc. sometimes its much better when I fill up at a 65p pump and cruise all day.. initially I thought that figure was a lot, but if I compare it to a typical newish family car, it is very comparable. It confuses people when you talk about equivalence of say 30mpg, and its not a real figure of 'double your mpg, with half cost fuel. I could not think of even considering giving up this car, even if the road tax went up past the current £270 ( 2002 v

Never did this kind of calculations before on the Range, but this site makes one curious.
Driving out to Bordeaux and back is a 191 mile journey, that cost me with the 2002 fullfat on petrol 62 £
Doing the same with the 2007 on lpg cost me 37 £ (petrol 48 liter, lpg 51 liter)
Driving 5000 mls a year that makes 1623£ for petrol and 968£ for lpg
Which makes 655£ a year difference.

I bought the car with lpg and I am happy with it, but I don't think I would install lpg with this kind of mileage. In my early days I made 60k miles a year then it made sense.

My LPG system is still settling in, and my converter is picking up the car tomorrow for a longer distance test as it occasionally shuts off LPG, but yesterday I managed 87 miles before the first green light on the gauge went out so very happy. It then stopped running on LPG gas . Current:

I have a Zavoli Lpg system on my 03 Ffrr with a 95ltr tank, I get 300-350 max miles out a tank with 350 miles on a long run. I need to get the system serviced soon, I use a chap in Glenboig near Glasgow. What has fallen off today:-)

We don't have cheap LPG here in darkest Wales, average cost 70p / L

But shouldn't the cost include installation of the system (unless you bought it already converted and paid no premium) and any extra maintenance costs?

I'm not antiLPG. They're just VERY rare here and I'm curious.

When looking for my l322 I knew I would be converting it to lpg so factored in the price along with purchase price. I was looking to pay up to £30k so when I saw one with 33,000 miles and all the toys for £28k that was me sorted as the conversion cost £2,100.

Got my car back yesterday with all teething problems resolved. A mixture of motorway and Central London driving caused no problems. I filled the lpg tank yesterday and reset the trip so looking forward to seeing how miles to a full tank, and comparing the mpg to my lpg'd 1999 SL500.

Excellent service from Warren at A-Z, he picked up the car and dropped it off to me bang in schedule, and the car inside was clean as well, no oily steering wheel old fashioned service, a very rare thing these days. Current:

120 miles of motorway driving (oxford and back 75ish all the way), rest tatting about round the back roads of brum,ran out of gas at 243 miles and cost £43.81 to refill 76L @ 56.9p /L
it will return 300+ miles on all motorway driving

prins system that cost £1500 to have fitted (i supplied and fitted tank and filler)
has been on for 5 years now and no probs to date

i use an app called fillLPG it tells you all the gas stations and updates the prices

i cant see how some can get 16 mpg on gas i struggle to get that on petrol and only then if i drive like i have an egg under the throttle pedal , i get 12-13 on gas  1990 3.5 v8 defender

If I drive 'steadily' on gas, I get about 16mpg

However, with all the tourists round here in summer who can't drive on our roads (they are used to the straight roads and dual carriageways in the midlands, so when they get down here and are confronted with roads like they used to be, with nasty things like bends, they have to do 80 mph on the straights, then slam the brakes on and go round the corners at 20 mph), I really need to use my loud pedal to put myself in front of the 'accidents waiting to happen'.

Hence I tend to get about 14 mpg day to day in the summer, but can average 16 in the winter when they have all gone home and I have to roads more or less to myself  2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)

Mine's petrol, but I notice a VERY big difference in mileage on shorter journeys (29-30 minutes) requiring a warm up compared with longer runs with the engine already up to temp. It seems to make a big difference.
