VentureCam problems

Hi,
I got a venture cam with my RR and it doesn't seem to be connecting. I have tried to delete it then dock it and did the 'learn camera' bit but it still has no image. I can however turn the red torch lights on and off from the touch screen, which makes this a very expensive remote torch.
So, I decided it was the camera and bought a new one from eBay at a very cheap £50 to try that one. It has exactly the same problem, the car connects to the camera but the screen is just black.
Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone shed any light on what may be the problem Range Rover Vogue 4.2 V8 Supercharged 2006MY

My Venturecam was completely dead when I got home having bought the car.
A few weeks later I was back at the dealer and he swapped it for another one from another car.
Slotted it in and within seconds it was charging and it then automatically went to "learning the camera" and it was done, one working venturecam.

So yes they can be completely dead for those that may never have heard this.

Thanks for the info gents. I know that the one I got through eBay is 433MHz because it said on the box. So I'll try to get hold of a 2.4GHz one to try that. It's going in to the dealer today anyway to sort out the mysterious engine management light with no fault code stored.

By the way. If the venturecam is not the right frequency would that mean that it wouldn't connect at all, because it does connect but just no picture.
Also, you said that it might just be dead. The one I got from eBay seemed to be brand new, even though the box was opened. I guess the only way to find out is to keep trying new ones until I find one that actually works!!! Range Rover Vogue 4.2 V8 Supercharged 2006MY

turn the original venturecam over and look at the numbers, see if they are the same as the numbers on your ebay one, if they are it is more likely you have been struck twice with bad luck.

Doublejay, I was told their most common use (except by dedicated off-roaders using it as intended) was by people towing horse boxes, as they put the venturecam in the horse box and could keep an eye on it from the car whilst driving along. Steve

I think Clarkson had the best idea for a use for them and for the surround cam system, but this is a family forum so I won't say what it was............................. Whistle Whistle 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
